Spencer escaped to the Cambridgeshire countryside and the Lakeside Lodge Golf Club near Huntingdon to hit some balls and enjoy some spring sunshine but a devilish wind.

We played the ‘scramble’ format (all play the best ball) and for the first 9 holes, played USA vs UK. Representing the USA were Peter, Will and John. Holding the reputation of the UK were Matt, Rob, Ant and Colin. Most will be pleased to hear the UK won by 4 shots.

After lunch (crisps, chocolate and more beers) we mixed up the teams and all played a whole lot better. The group of Peter, Rob, Colin and Will went round in +3 with the other group not far behind. Apart from our ability, the wind was the biggest factor. A long iron or a wood was needed for the 180 yard par 3 into the wind and for some (Will), passing the ladies front tee was a challenge!
