A double lower leg fracture has forced the Spencer ‘A’ Team Captain, Colin Byrne, into possible early retirement. Colin’s services, both on and off the pitch, would be dearly missed. Not only the captain and goalie for the ‘A’ team, he was also often seen marking out the Garrett Park pitch late on a Friday night and ferrying kit and players between games in his van.

The injury occured during a friendly match against Hillcroft. In Colin’s own words, “the fattest player I’ve ever seen fell on me!”. The Spencer 1st team heard the news via Colin’s mobile from the back of the ambulance. Colin is now resting with his feet up and two metal pins in his leg – get well soon from all the club.
