Spencer Lacrosse London

London's premiere lacrosse club for players of all abilities

League Week 22

Spencer 7 – 10 Hampstead

Sorry, no match report available.

Spencer 2’s 8 – 6 Buckhurst Hill

The 2’s recorded a good win against Buckhurst Hill, arguably the form team in East 1 over the last month or so. This win puts Spencer in good shape but any of Croydon, Spencer, Buckhurst Hill or Reading could still get relegated along with Colchester who’s fate was effectively sealed this weekend.

The regular second team players were boosted by the addition of Glen Gardener, Dan Taylor and James Dods – all of whom performed very well. Dan opened the scoring with a well taken goal having found space on the crease. Glen was excellent at face off and more often than not won the clamp and directed the ball for team mates to hoover up. Finally James put in a solid performance at the back with little getting past him and also was a safe stick when in possession, making some good clears.

It was an all round good performance and the team kept its concentration and commitment throughout what was a close game from the perspective of the score. Both Neil and Sho played very well between the sticks and the D were back to business as usual. All the long poles had a good game, but special mention to Ben McLellen who made some fine breaks down field and was rewarded with a goal – a solo effort having picked up possession in the Spencer half.

Additionally, it is good to be able to report that the offensive play was much more settled and organised than it has been recently and the majority of goals were well worked, either through linking up passes or from creating space for middies (particularly Dave Crawford, Josh Puddle and Luke Zaparaniuk) to dodge into.

It is important for us to maintain this form in our remaining games – Colchester x 2 and then (hopefully) Reading. A plea to all players to carve out availability for the next three weekends to help us secure our place in East 1 for next year.

Spencer 3’s 4 – 4 Maidstone

A huge game for both teams and after four quarters of lacrosse, they could not be separated. Spencer now need at least 4 points from their two final games, more likely the full 6 points to avoid relegation down to East Div 3.
