League Result: Spencer 11 - 14 Walcountain Blues

This was always likely to be a close game with both teams looking for their first wins of the season after difficult starts. For Spencer, a poor 3rd quarter saw the game slip away just like our opening game against Hillcroft.

The half-time score was 6-6 and Spencer were disappointed to of given the Blues a couple of easy goals. In attack, we were not dynamite but were controlling the ball well and things were looking OK. However in the 3rd quarter we allowed the Blues to score four quick unanswered goals and take a lead into the last 20 minutes.

At the start of the 4th quarter we were four goals down and although we threw the kitchen sink at them, few shots found the net, most going wide. At the other end we were off-pace all game and let in another couple of loose goals. In all, a really disappointing game that we a) should of won and b) really needed to win.

Positives from the game were that we played better than a week earlier against Hampstead. Also a good debut from Derek Perlman including the hit of the game where he flattened one of the Blues middies. In the attacking half, Will Walker lead by example and was soon getting the attentions of the Blues long stick players. Alas at the back we were poor this week and missed the likes of Matt Blom and Mike Goodman who are hopefully back next week for the flags game at Penarth.
