League Result: Penarth 9 - 7 Spencer

A sloppy last five minutes was the difference between ending the league on a high or a low. An enjoyable match in terrible weather saw Penarth and Spencer battle away in the rain and mud in a game with never more than two goals separating the sides. However it was Penarth who came out on top with three unanswered goals in the last five minutes, a period during which Spencer wasted a number of good chances.

Penarth only now have Hillcroft to play in the league. Assuming this goes to form (with Hillcroft winning), this result puts Penarth level on points with Spencer for the league season. However our superior goal difference will see us finish 7th in the league. If Penarth beat Hillcroft, then they will leap-frog us in the final league standings.

Today was not a game with outstanding individual performances. We all made at least one basic error which either gave away possession or let Penarth in to score. The sloppy conditions were a factor with the Penarth attack slightly lighter of foot than the Spencer long-sticks. Spencer goals were distributed between the attack and midfield. We were unlucky with a number of shots, hitting pretty much everything at times except the back of the net.

Spencer were;
Brian Michael, Colin Byrne, Rob Gooch, Matt Blom, Steve Greszczyszyn, Will Walker (2 goals), Ant Broadhurst (1), TJ Chucoski (1), Colin Rutter, Glen Gardener, Dan Hughes, Peter Sayia (1), Andrew Mottershead, Nick Flew, Mark Davies (2)
