A bare bones 10-man squad travelled to Hitchin, the current league leaders, so the odds were stacked against a Spencer win today. Midway through the 2nd quarter, our 3rd long-stick arrived, Matt Blom, to swell the squad to a hefty 11, which also included a walking wounded (Rob, achillies) so it was really a 10.5 man squad.

Anyway enough preamble and laying out excuses, we played OK today.

We had a fair share of the ball and although we did throw it away cheaply at the start, as the game wore on, we got better at keeping possession and played sensible lacrosse given our lack of a bench. Maybe Hitchin eased up a little once the game was won, but maybe we dug deep and definitely created good chances.

We now look forward to the return fixture and hope to field a full strength Spencer squad which will result in a much closer game.
