Ken Galluccio Cup 2013

The Ken Galluccio Cup (KGC) is the European Club Championships.

The KGC is open to both Men and Women’s league champions from each of the respective ELF member nations. Spencer as winners of the English Southern League and Stockport, winners of the English Northern League therefore have been invited to compete to become European Club Champions.

The Ken Galluccio Cup 2013 will be held on September 7th and 8th 2013, in Ghent, Belgium.

More details will follow once we’ve sorted our travelling squad, hopefully a strong travelling squad so we can put on a good performance at these championships.

The men’s tournament will comprise of the following clubs;

  • LCC Radotin (Czech Republic)
  • Edinburgh (Scotland)
  • Oslo Legends (Norway)
  • Farsta Cobras (Sweden)
  • Bocconi (Italy)
  • Amsterdam Lions (Netherlands)
  • Stuttgart (Germany)
  • UCD (Ireland)
  • Stockport (England North)
  • Spencer (England South)
  • Red Rhinos (Belgium)
  • Lille Spartiates (France)

We know Stockport will be strong and probably start as bookies favourites. Another to watch will be LCC Radotin who some from the Spencer squad know from the superb annual Aleš Hřebeský Memorial box lacrosse tournament hosted, and won this year, by LCC Radotin. Can they transfer their high quality box game into field lacrosse?

The Amsterdam Lions and Stuttgart could spring a surprise or two, as could the Irish and Scandinavian clubs. The rest should be fighting for the lower placings but what this does show is the growth of field lacrosse throughout Europe.
