Junior Autumn Skills Camp 2021

Skills Camp at Half-Term Autumn 2021

For young Players (boys and girls) aged roughly 9 - 12 playing Men’s Rules Field Lacrosse

What? - A Three Day Camp which will focus on progressing individual skills during morning sessions and team skills in the afternoon. We will also provide the opportunity to develop specialist skills - such as ‘face off’. The programme will be challenging and good fun but limited to the first 20 applicants.

Who? - The programme will be ideal for experienced players but those new to the Sport will also be very welcome.

Where? - The Camp will be run on grass on the field on ‘Openview’ – the other side of the Spencer Astro from the Spencer Club. Entrance will be through the Spencer Club, across the field and through the gated passage alongside the bottom end of the Astro.

Equipment? - will be available to borrow and be allocated for the period of the camp but players may also bring their own. Players will need sporty clothing suitable for the weather including a waterproof if rain is forecast, a packed lunch, a snack or two and some water (ideally not a sugary drink).

Each day? - registration and equipment collection will open at 9.30am over on the Openview Field with the Camp day starting at 10am. There will be a supervised break for lunch between 12.30 and 1.30pm and the Camp will close each day at 4pm. An early drop off from 9am is possible by arrangement.

Leadership? - The Lead coach for the camp will be Peter Compton, the Spencer Lacrosse Club Head Coach supported by experienced coaches from the Senior Club – most are players who have started in our own Junior Programme but are now playing at University. Peter has successfully coached domestic and international teams for over 30 years, is a qualified Lacrosse Association Level 2 coach, holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, is DBS checked and First Aid trained.

Covid – 19? - The event will be run in compliance with the current Covid – 19 regulations. Parents of players who are required to isolate during the period of the Camp should advise the Head Coach as soon as practicable.
